History 1986-88
1986. 29th/30th August. In liaison with the British Waterways Authorities Trentham Regatta and Sprint were held at Rudyard Lake, due to Trentham Lake being drained. Sentinel Regatta photo 2nd September page 13th (with mis-named NSRC crew and Bob Till regatta draw expert.) Following the success of the Regatta the Club was invited to move permanently to Rudyard Lake by British Waterways.

In August 200 rowers were required to offer their services for three weeks and conduct sea-trials on the 170 oared Trireme “Olympias” a 54 ton (with crew) Greek warship located at the naval base on Poros. PBT.Wheeler passed the physical and went out there, rowing from 7am-noon each day. Trials included turns at full speed, crabbing, on-station, ramming, sailing and sea-rowing.
The Clubs unsectioned 65’ fine shell wooden 8o, was sectioned into three for transportation, named Rachael. The senior men entered the Boston Marathon.
18th September. Boston Marathon. Finishing 36th overall and the 6th eight out of 14 eights in all status’s. Time;-4hours 13mins 11secs.K.Birks, D.Barton, G.Seweryn, J.McCabe, I.Williamson, D.Fairlie, PBT.Wheeler, P.Wright.str. D.Bankes,cox. DJ.Barron;-logistics.
1988 24th/25th September. The following weekend all the clubs senior men and women embarked to row at the opening of the new boathouse and regatta of La Havre Rowing Club who were formed 150 years before, having been invited by the French club who they had met at Stourport Regatta. The nineteen rowing clubs included Versailles, Dunkerque, Caen, Rouen, Tours and Enghien.
Despite the condition and rig of the borrowed equipment NSRC won the coxless pairs event and 9th out of 11 entered club 8’s.The regatta took place in the dry-basins where the Transatlantic Liners such as the Queen Elizabeth and La France had used to be moored.
