Awards for All grant NSRC £9,222!

Some great news from the Awards for All Lottery Unit this week - our bid for equipment and training has been granted in full so we now have £9,222 to spend.

The bid in summary was for funding for:

  • Lightweight coxless quad/four
  • 3x Virus sculling boats
  • Upgrade to the footplates and stretchers in the club's four
  • 4x pairs junior macon blades (second hand)
  • ARA level II coaching courses (3 places)
  • Powerboat training (3 places)
  • Walkie-talkies and a loudhailer

After school sessions at St Edward’s, Leek start after 1/2 term and the response so far from the pupils during the curriculum sessions has been very encouraging.

The next step will be a club-based junior section on Saturday mornings at Rudyard based around pupils who have been through the indoor rowing programme at St Edward’s. Prospects for the club establishing a new junior section have taken a big step forward.
