Club puts in bid to start Junior section

Document Actions

NSRC has submitted an Awards for All bid, in order to start up our Junior section. The bid is for a second hand lightweight coxless quad/four; three new Virus sculling trainers; ARA level II training; mods to the shoes and stretchers in the wooden four to bring it up to date;powerboat training and a couple of walkie talkie sets. Total value of bid £9400. This equipment and coaching training would allow the club to start a partnership with local schools, to encourage more young people to take up our very rewarding sport.

St Edward's school is one of our partner schools that Tony has been liasing with. They have submitted a bid in parallel last week for 5 Concept II rowers to be based at the school. Land sessions based there would then feed into our proposed junior section on a Saturday morning at Rudyard. We should hear the outcome around mid March and if all goes well we hope to have the Junior section established May/June.

Coaching training days have been reserved via our ARA NW coaching coordinator, and should take place on 12,13 and 19,20 April. If interested, please see Tony for more details.

Excellent news for the club and for prospective junior members. Watch this space!
